Technical Support Engineer


Description
The Technical Support Engineer ("TSE") will be part of a team of talented Support Engineers who provide, with courtesy and consideration, the highest level of user technical assistance possible to internal and external customers. The position encompasses assisting customers in using in house applications, troubleshooting the reported bugs, identifying root cause of a reported problem through log analysis & providing/suggesting fixes. 
The role directly reports to the Director, WW Support and will work very closely with production operations & Engineering operations team.

Responsibilities
  • Production support for product developed using technologies like:
    • Java/J2EE
    • Struts, JSP, Hibernate, Spring framework
    • scripting languages (Perl, Python)
  • Work with Production operation on UNIX operating system (Linux, Solaris, etc.) to troubleshoot live customer reported product performance issues
  • Recreate customer environments, test & debug software features, applications and solutions.
  • Site monitoring and pro-active performance tuning of J2EE applications at the code level.
Requirements
  • Experience with usage of performance monitoring tools and log analyzers.
  • Experience in production engineering support and rolling out hot-fixes for production sites.
  • Experience with Jboss, Apache and related tools (installation/configuration etc.) & Internet technologies (HTML, HTTP, TCP/IP, SOAP, XML, etc.)
  • Experience with Performance, Scalability and Reliability (PSR) testing of J2EE applications
  • Experience using other common open source tools (CVS, SVN, Bugzilla, etc.)
  • Knowledge of life cycle processes, tools, and technologies.
  • Experience with MTAs like Postfix or Apache JAMES and any List management software is an added plus.
  • Experience with Database tools like PostGreSQL or MySQL
  • GIT knowledge will be an added plus.
Education
  • BS/BE in Computer Science of equivalent work experience.
